There is something unique when family comes together during Christmas time. As you gather at the family table this year, maybe you are celebrating the arrival of a new baby or the loss of loved ones. These winds of change can bring tears of joy or tears of sadness. And yet all families share this in common, that time spent with relatives can often bring out the best in us or the worst in us. One thing is true: family is forever! So how do you please this busy bunch for the holidays? What gifts can you give to your family that they can cherish for a lifetime?
As you scramble to find the perfect presents for the people you love, let me suggest four precious gifts to give your family during this holiday season:

#1 The Gift of Listening- Don’t be the first to share your opinion or solve life’s problems, but how about this year giving the gift of listening? We have two ears and one mouth, and yet we talk a lot more than we listen. Don’t you feel valued when God listens to you? Listening is much more detailed then hearing. It takes focus and understanding. As we effectively listen, we can effectively pray. As my 8-year-old Trinity told me, “Mom, we learn so much from listening.”

#2 The Gift of Life- Proverbs says, we have a choice to poison people with the words that come from our mouths or we have an opportunity to give life (Proverbs18:21). It’s easy to be critical, factual, and judgmental because we live in a negative, fallen world. Speaking words of life, making hope tangible is a priceless gift. Selecting to speak God’s choice words will be a life-giving gift to those who sit in our living rooms. We all need a little encouragement through our winter season. Become a life support! You maybe someone’s only hope to survive his or her greatest storm.

#3 The Gift of Love- Let me tell you what to give folks that are opinionated, offended, wounded, and even difficult at times; this gift never fails. It happens to be the greatest gift of all! It accepts the unlovely, it embraces the abrasive, and most of all it makes a seat at the table for the hungry. Love creates an atmosphere that covers shame, releases debts, and forgives wrong. Remember when Christ gave us this perfect gift? It is a costly present but it will be appreciated from the youngest to the oldest.

#4 The Gift of Laughter- Having fun with your family has to be a part of our plan. Try not to major on your differences, remember that you will have each other for years to come. Create new family traditions, share clean jokes, play games, laugh out loud, and make special memories. Laughing is contagious and I found out, you have to learn to laugh. It doesn’t even have to start out funny but by the end you will be picking your self up, off the floor and wiping your eyes because you just can’t stop laughing. Laughter is a good medicine (proverbs 17:22 ). This is a gift we all desperately need to unwrap especially during the holidays.

As you remember the song, Bing Crosby made popular, “I’ll be home for Christmas” it is my prayer that your homes are filled with great comfort and joy. From our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
I felt that, “single mom” and “widow” were labels that described the experience of my tragic situation. It left me feeling confined to what I had no control of, my circumstances.

Life is a trip and I’m not at the end of my journey yet! I resolved to live a life God intended for me; I discovered God’s direction for Eileen. It’s my decisions, not my conditions that determine the quality of my life! In that moment, I went from surviving to thriving.

Next thing I knew, I was ministering with my sweet friends, Pastors Rich and Robyn Wilkerson, at their 2010 Women’s Conference in Miami, FL. Three weeks later, upon the invitation of Pastor Mike and Donna Love, I packed my bags to a land I had never traveled before.

Malawi, Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world, left anindelible mark that enriched my life forever. Immersed in this life giving culture for me was absolutely life changing! Daily I had the opportunity to give God’s love away to the orphans, the beggars, and the villagers. Everyday I would preach open air in the business district where the working class would forgo their lunch and feed on God’s daily bread. Workers that represented the entire country would leave the comforts of their office, and bake in the heat of the noonday sun, as they filled the vacant chairs on the cobblestone streets. It was there that a T.V. broadcast producer heard me preach the Good News and asked me to tape two live devotional sessions to air all over the country. In the evenings, I attended the conference where I had the privilege to encourage the women and challenge the youth.

I encountered many divine appointments, that it was quite overwhelming to process it all. There was never a dull moment! I was certainly stretched out of my comfort zone but the results were all worth it! Before I knew it, I was flying back across the Atlantic Ocean transformed by my unforgettable adventures.

“The Tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it” – Anonymous

Roosevelt lived this kind of life and he lived it to the fullest. How can I live any other way? Many of you have graciously asked what I am doing and if I am ok. I can certainly tell you I have fully embraced my call to preach, teach, encourage, and equip the body of Christ.

Yes! I am on the evangelistic field full time. I did not say all the time! I am a fulltime mother of two brilliant superstars, Trinityand Israel. Although they are my priority, I must obey my heavenly call first.

I asked God, “What do I do with the rest of my life? Where do I live? Whom do I marry? Where do I dedicate my time and my energy? Lord, how can my life have significance?”

The Solution:

After seeking the Lord, His response was simple. First, He reminded me of His great purpose and plan for my life (Jeremiah 29:11). Then He asked me a vital question that would direct and guide me to the solution. He whispered in my heart, “I hear your concerns, and I want you to first answer this question Eileen. Will you allow your life to be a fruitful one?” God’s greatest treasures are people. He too is concerned that my life is not lived in vain.

The Strategy:

Although life as a single mom presents it’s challenges, I have been given a great opportunity to reach young people as I weekly speak to college and high school students. Through NuNation, a ministry that was co-founded by Roosevelt, I am gathering an army of trained disciples and directing students to live with God’s purpose as they win their generation for Christ.

As I aspire to travel monthly, I am called to encourage and equip women. I speak at churches and conferences as women are refreshed and restored through the cross of Christ and His resurrection power.

In the next few weeks, I am getting ready to travel to one of the poorest countries in the world Malawi, Africa. I will minister where the average life span is 36 years of age. 70% of the people are infected with deadly diseases. I will travel to orphanages and speak in the villages. It is a privilege and an honor to follow where Roosevelt spoke over a year ago and minister to these beautiful people.

Please Help! Many of you have been personally blessed by the obedience and the life of Roosevelt Hunter. You have wondered how you can invest in this good ground. Please participate through prayer and partnership. He would tell me, “Eileen, God wants to raise up and rescue a fallen generation!” Many times I have felt completely inadequate to do anything of significance. I can list off my limitations in a matter of microseconds. What me? If I left it up to my feelings or my past, I would never get out of bed. God told me to lean on Him and He will direct my path (Prov. 3:5-7).
With a team of leaders and volunteers, we mobilized 22 students through academic training and hands on ministry. I have learned so much from stepping out in faith and offering to God what I did have. I had just come back from a personal retreat, one that was recommended by my Pastors Bray and Diane Sibley. He and his wife told me, “Take time away without the children and allow the Lord to bring closure, and healing in areas that you have not exposed to Him yet.” I thought, “Okay what do I have to lose?” I went up to Shreveport, LA to spend time with my spiritual big brother and sister, Pastors Denny and DeAnza Duron. It was a five hour trip, and I’m not much for road trips. I listened to audio books; I brought journals Roosevelt had left behind; and plenty of photo albums. I did not know just what to expect, but I knew I needed to do this. I was amazed at what would become of this time. For days I cried, I wept, I prayed, I listened to new praise and worship (Anthony Evans). Something was happening on the inside of me. A transformation took place. It finally dawned on me that I went back to the place where I was married, and I first started my ministry life with Rho. God visited my pain and healed me. Yes! I left that place healed.

While I was there, Pastor Robert Morris (Gateway Church Southlake, TX) preached at a conference Denny hosted. He talked about, “The Blessed Life”. It was at that altar that I received two impartations. I received the gift of giving, and the gift of healing. These strictly belong to God, but he has imparted them to me. All I could do was retreat back to the hotel and spend time in His presence. On my road trip back I listened to Pastor Joel Olsteen’s audio book It’s Your Time. Only God could set me up for such a great miracle.

My children, Trinity Joy and Israel David are doing remarkable. I don’t assume that; we talk, talk, and talk some more about it. They will be traveling with me on Mother’s Day as we preach in Winston Salem First A/G under the leadership of Dr. Mike and Darla Rakes. I will have two weeks and then turn around to be part of a large youth conference in Alberta, Canada with Mike Love.

My assignment is simple. It is to always bring healing to others; through the magnificent way my Savior has brought healing to me. So many of us carry sickness, emotional wounds, and pain, this is not what God intended. He desires above all that we would prosper and be in health! (3 John 1:2)

Update:

Pthirtyone is my ministry name as I travel once or twice a month. Don’t get me wrong, God does not desire to punish and hurt his children. In the next few weeks I will be traveling to a solitary place for a personal retreat. He preached the practical truths of God’s Word to both young and old. His humor and engaging style of delivery transcended racial and denominational walls. For over 16 years Roosevelt was an international communicator and humanitarian in over 27 different countries; speaking at over 100 Youth Camps, 120 Encounters, and 80 Youth Conventions. He flew nearly 2 million air miles speaking to churches, corporations, universities, non-profit organizations and professional athletes. His ability to coach people and engage hearts caused him to become one of the most sought after preachers in America.

His heart was for people all over the world to “dare to dream” and fulfill their destinies. Being diagnosed with colon cancer on July 25, 2008 did not change that. Roosevelt pressed through the health challenges and continued traveling, empowering all to live a passionate life for Christ. Although Roosevelt was fervent about teaching the word, reaching the multitudes, actively training and serving in the local church and community; one of his greatest desires was to see a revolution begin among this generation of young people. His vision to equip young people with the knowledge and tools to lead their generation to Christ is in full effect today.

On August 10, 2009 Roosevelt Hunter slipped into eternity to cheer those who’ll come after him to carry the torch and light up their world. In the words of Paul “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7)

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Still Running the Race... It has been difficult to say the least. Grief can often sneak up on you and take you by surprise. While sitting in my husband's old study, I found myself gazing at his picture as tears forced their way through my frozen stare. My daughter entered the room and caught my puddle of tears. " I really miss Daddy!", I whispered. Her beautiful chocolate brown eyes locked into mine as she brought comfort to my heart. "Just Cry Mommy! I always feel happy after I've had a good cry!" My little girl thought I should have some alone time, so there I was looking back thinking about how good life was when I had my Roosevelt.

God has given me grace though

the grief. It is the pain that I must continue to push pass and press through. Pain and suffering can paralyze you if you let it. I remembered a dream I had of Roosevelt. It was a sunny afternoon and I was on a busy street full of people going places. As far as I could see there were people walking ahead of me and beside me. I looked back and there was Roosevelt along with many others! He was 10 feet behind me. We did not run to each other but I could see there was a reassuring smile on his face letting me know he was right there. Before I woke up, I found myself looking forward and moving forward.

You may be facing something this month that wants to paralyze you. I am inspired by the life of our Patriarch of faith, Abraham. He was called to change when circumstances were inconvenient (Genesis 12). He had to come out from his family and cultural mindsets in order to pursue God’s purpose. Abraham and Sarah were well up in years and perhaps looking to enjoy the things most people their age do, and yet they did not settle for mediocrity but took the opportunity to be great! I wondered how I would manage through this birthday without him? It started out overwhelming and frustrating. Why did I have to face such a day? Haven't I endured enough? Everybody told me that this first year would be difficult. I know I could have allowed my mind to wonder about my great loss, to meditate on how drastic my life has changed not only for me, but for our kids.

God went above and beyond to extend his love that day. Many of you texted me reminding me that I would not face the day alone. On his birthday, I was able to find a buyer for Roosevelt's car which I had been trying to sell for 3 months now. As I was driving with my sister in New Orleans that evening, I looked up and saw that I was stopped at a street called Roosevelt. I could sense Rho with me. A day that could have been so challenging for me was conquered. That evening I found myself dancing and praising God for what he had miraculously done.

Now as I am going into the Christmas holidays and I am reminded that although the enemy will plot to rule my unstable emotions, and take my comfort and joy....The Grinch cannot steal my Christmas! As I cherish the gift of having Roosevelt for the past 16years, I can truly say It's a Wonderful life!

Guest Speaker: Roosevelt Hunter...oopse...Eileen Hunter

A sweet friend and musical artist, Vicki Yohe, asked me to take a little time off and travel with her on some concert tours and ministry dates. I was overjoyed at the fact that I could go and breakout of my normal routine. Although she offered, I certainly was not able to go to all the dates; due to my commitment at home. I prayed and asked God to go to one event. I was compelled to travel with her on October 6th to a conference for pastors and leaders in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I knew the pastor's that were hosting the conference and thought it would be a nice but quick break.

When I arrived to the campus, Bishop Schatzline kindly invited me to share that evening after the concert. He said, "The Pastor scheduled to come was detained and could not make his air flight in". My heart racing... I said "Yes!" I only had a couple of hours to get ready and be there. As we got in the car, the pastors said, "I'm sure you knew the conference you'll be speaking at tonight, Roosevelt was scheduled to speak and open the conference. And the speaker that was detained tonight was his replacement". In awe, I shouted "What?! Really?! This is why I was to come here!"

As I got up to share with these wonderful leaders, I shared my journey. God used it and we spent several hours at the alters. God was transforming hearts and changing lives. My journey is starting to make sense now.

This month I will be traveling to Toronto, Canada speaking, praying and asking God to touch hundreds of ladies as they watch their Heavenly Father transform them as He has done so faithfully for me!

Today marks exactly two months since my beloved slipped into eternity. Every 10th of the month, the children and I do a memorial to honor their father. As we began watching a DVD, Trinity was flooded with memories. It just hit her once again that Daddy would not be back, "to tuck her in, pray the Our Father, and most importantly no more snuggle times in bed". The weight of that became unbearable. She reminded me of the time she broke her arm in a discovery zone play area and how Dad picked her up and brought her to two emergency hospitals because the first one was not satisfactory. "She said Mom, the last time I held his hand was in Mexico I didn't know it would be over after that". The weight of that caused her to respond with such difficulty. All I could do was hug her in hopes that she could remember how it feels to be embraced by him. I held her till we prayed and she fell asleep.

Israel said, mom it's taking such a long time for God to let us see dad, "I wish I could just die and go to heaven". We began to talk and he understood that God did not leave us here because He wants to punish us. We have a purpose and we must stay on earth till He decides. We have a wonderful call on our lives and we must finish our task, just like Dad.

There was a sudden calm in the midst of our chaos. It's not always perfect in The Hunter Home, but it is always peaceful.
Thank you for the continual prayers. We need them!

My Red Balloon from Heaven

This morning I decided to step out for a drive and get some much needed coffee. It initially fuels me as I spend time with my heavenly father then try to conquer my daily to do list. Upon my return home this morinig, I noticed a red balloon hidden in the floor board of my car (the back pasenger's seat). It was full of air, but no helium as if it was supposed to stay grounded. I was flabergasted. Where did it come from? I later asked my family but no one could tell me of its origin. I thought it would be good to just send it up to Roosevelt, but when I released it it came right back to me.
I came inside and read a card that shared how Roosevelt was telling so many people in heaven about me including God. It was the first time in a long while, but I decided to cry on the corner of my desk knowing that Roosevelt would have shared wonderful stories about our love for each other.
Then it dawned on me that this red balloon was from God. He loving reminded me how he would watch over me and the kids. We had every reason to celebrate not only Rho's life, but our lives too. How I feel God with me. God.

A SUPERNATURAL VISITATION

It has now been over one month since Roosevelt's departure and so much has happened since then.

Let me begin, by asking you to receive my sincerest THANK YOU, to all those who have interceded daily, written letters, texted kind words, blogged, twittered, made phone calls, and sent us generous gifts. All that you have done for us has served to boost our spirits, and keep our family moving forward. Through you, the floodgates of Heaven have remained open, and the Lord has given us sufficient grace as we forge forward towards uncharted territory.

People often ask me how I am doing. There are times I honestly do not give myself the luxury of answering that question. There have been days when we have needed supernatural intervention; in those moments we have had to shut everything down in order to hear and received from God alone. He has done great things for me that I wish to impart.

One of the greatest challenges I ever had to do; was to tell my 7 year old daughter Trinity, and my 4 year old son Israel, that Roosevelt, their father had died. The news was shattering enough, but God had gone before us to supernaturally provide answers to my children. I wanted to share some experiences that happened to me in order to reinforce God's love in our lives.

That night after Roosevelt's death, I returned physically and emotionally exhausted to the hotel room where my children slept. The Holy Spirit woke Israel up during the night and gave him three visitations. His first vision of Roosevelt was an in depth description of a beautiful butterfly fading away into heaven. The second vision was a meticulous story of daddy's disappearance; and then the last vision was a vivid description of Roosevelt's journey through life which concluded with Roosevelt crying out for God to take him away. Each vision was given with such great detail and clarity. It did not stop there! As the sun rose early that morning, my precious little preschooler held my face and told me daddy loved me and continued to be in my heart. What was mind boggling was that I had not yet told my children about their father's passing.

Days later, after arriving to the United States and back to or home in Louisiana, I was ready to share with my children about Roosevelt's departure. Trinity opened the conversation with something God had shown her. She had a visitation the night before about dad's complete healing. She clearly saw him in a dream, healthy, whole, and out of the hospital. This opened the door for me to tell them what had actually happened. When she heard the news, she screamed, then cried, and then she said, "this is the best day of my life". It shocked me!

I recalled that 2 months prior to our trip to Mexico, Roosevelt had a talk with the children. He told them that there may come a time when he would hand deliver some balloons to his mother, Grandma Hunter. Mother Hunter had died on September 17, 2007. He spoke to them about having a big celebration in Heaven and that the party may be so inviting that he might just need to stay there. Trinity and Israel understood and they pleaded with him not to go. He then took a moment to explain the beauty of Heaven; and how once you see it, you would rather be there than anywhere else.

One morning I took time to recall daddy's story and share the news with the children, I had purchased 3 red balloons for dad and 1 purple balloon for grandma. I took the children to a certain location and we all wrote messages on the balloons; we had prayed together, then released them. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing contrary. Just then Israel prayed with so much boldness; asking God to send a great big wind to lift these balloons up to daddy toward Heaven. When our balloons were first released they actually dipped down in the opposite direction. In that moment, I felt the need to cover for God, just in case these half filled latex balloons did not take off. The Lord came through for us. Suddenly a great big gust of wind swept the balloons up into the heavens; and out of plain sight. With their disappearance we danced, shouted and rejoiced over Dad's Victory Party.

Roosevelt would often quote, "Any life considered worth living is lived to the fullest." My husband sowed his life to this generation. He truly emptied himself and poured the love of God to all who came in contact with him. Roosevelt's life has gone up as a memorial; but I still found myself seeking the Lord for answers. What's next for me? I too have made a convenient with you, Lord. God clearly showed me that I was to "live life on purpose".

The reason I remain here is because there is a plan, and an assignment for me yet to fulfill. As I continue to journey through my grief, I am compelled to write, travel, and be a voice of God's love to others. NuNation, a ministry to train and equip others, is no longer a dream but now becoming a reality. In October I will have updated news regarding all that will be happening and how you can be a part of it.

This would not be possible without your love and prayers. I have a marathon to run before me, but my eyes are fixed on the prize, the Lord Jesus Christ. I desire to broadcast a ministry to women and single parents. I will continue to make available Roosevelt's timeless messages, and also a message I preached the day after his funeral called "The Assignment". Look for these in October 2009.

Life is only worth living to the fullest! I anticipate great miracles in the days ahead, and I am glad to have you run with me, as I remain single minded for Christ. I love you!

Your sister and friend,
Eileen Hunter
http://www.rooseveltonline.com/
